About Jamal Edmonds
Educator, Texture Expert and colorist, Jamal Edmonds has consistently created a buzz in the hair industry for more than two decades. The 2018, 2020 and 2022 North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) finalist/winner and 2018 ABS Global Image award-winning stylist is the owner and creative director of the flagship Mizani salon, Lamaj in the City, located in Washington, D.C.
Jamal’s skillful hands continue to make a statement in the industry in the form of education, glamour, media, commercial print, and runway. He’s a Mizani educator and also, a Redken and SalonCentric Ambassador specializing in textured hair. He also teaches specialized advanced theory classes as well as performing tradeshow and special product presentations for salon professionals.
Edmonds’ artistry is continuously chosen to appear on covers as well as in editorial spreads of numerous publications. Jamal has been hired for countless events and campaigns such as New York Fashion Week; BET Upfront promotional tours; and "Black Girls Rock!" and BET Awards programs.
He has provided his hair care expertise to numerous famous tresses, including Anglea Rye, ESPN commentator, Terrence Howard, actor; Debra Lee, former chairman and CEO, Black Entertainment Television (BET); Eva Marcille, model, actress and television personality; Bevy Smith, television and radio personality; Angie Stone and Elle Varner, Grammy-nominated musicians; and Teyana Taylor, recording artist, actress, television personality, choreographer and dancer.
