Educator and master hair stylist Jamal Edmonds has consistently created a buzz in the hair industry for more than 18 years.
A master hair technician, Jamal’s skillful hands continue to make a statement in the industry in the form of education, glamour, media, commercial print and runway. In 2011, he joined Mizani as an educator, teaching specialized advanced theory classes as well as performing tradeshow and special product presentations for both Mizani distributors and salon professionals.
Jamal's artistry is continuously chosen to appear on covers as well as in editorial spreads of numerous publications, including:Essence, Hype Hair, Seven Tribes, Sophisticates, Style Q, Washington Life, Black Passion, Black Hair, Black Hair U.K., and The Business of Professional Modeling. Jamal has been hired for countless events and campaigns such as New York Fashion Week, the 2013 BET Awards and the 2013 "Black Girls Rock!" Awards. And, after a nationwide search, Edmonds was selected by the Bronner Bros. as one of its 2013 Ford Top Ten.
He has provided his hair care expertise to numerous famous tresses, including Debra Lee, chairman and CEO, Black Entertainment Television (BET); Bevy Smith, socialite and television personality, "Fashion Queens;" La La Vasquez, actress and television personality; and Elle Varner, Grammy nominated singer and songwriter. Edmonds is also the owner and creative director of Salon Lamaj, a 2012 and 2013 finalist of Steve Harvey's Neighborhood Awards for "Best Beauty Salon."
